Its another Owl Occasion

I have been making these Owl Occasion Christmas cards with glimmer paper and DSP.
Depending on the patterned paper you use the cards can all look very different using exactly the same materials.
My favourite one I made a t a workshop last Saturday was this one.
We stamped a background of "Daydream Medallions" in Gumball Green ink on crumb cake cardstock and chose Snow festival DSP for the paper flag behind.
This one had an unexpected accident with the scallop circle punch on the silver glimmer paper and earned himself a stitched satin ribbon bow to make it all better.

Swing 40th birthday card

It has been a hectic couple of weeks with parties, birthdays, babies being born and more parties.
For one of my very sweet friends who turned "40" last week I made her this SWING card.
The numbers are cut out of silver glimmer paper with the Big shot and then for a little more shimmer I sprayed the whole card with shimmer mist.

The swing card "swings open" when you pull the front panel to reveal a textured embossed inside.
I love how these framelits can be used in so many various ways and add such dimension and layers to a card.
Happy Birthday Jill!

Heartfelt Make and Takes

One of the best things about any stampin' Up! event is the make and take projects you get to bring home with you. At Heartfelt we were so run off our feet with things to do and see and learn, we almost didn't have any time left over to complete our make and take items.
So like any wisened stampers... we checked out what materials we needed and brought them home, to complete in our own casual crafting time. Only once I'd put my stampset together, I just couldn't resist trying out some ink on my newly acquired rubber.
The make and take involved using our Free stampset - Clockworks!
I started with the simple stamping of the white cards in Pool party, More Mustard, Calypso Coral and Gumball green. And you stamp the envelope to match as well, very cool!
Lastly I made up the vellum envelope. Out of a single square of vellum, scored on the diagonals and wrapped with a piece of Baker's twine.
How gorgeous is that?
The scrapbook page I was a little dubious about. Basic grey is not a colour I usually use in my scrapbooks.
But I was pleasantly pleased with the colours and textures that emerged from this group of papers, ink and cardstock. Basic grey is an excellent background colour to enhance the colours and tesxtures of cardstock flags.
How pretty are the vintage facetted buttons ?
They seem to just float on the page, yet are held securely with mini glue dots.

My favourite part of the Heartfelt Event in Sydney

The best part about the Stampin' Up! Heartfelt event in Sydney on Saturday was...
sharing time and stamping with my friends!
In previous years the event at this time of year is usually called Regional Training. This year was very different in that it was a Heartfelt event designed for demonstrators and their customers.
The presentations and the demonstrations are always amazing.
However, sharing the event with a guest put the shimmer on the cake.
One of the new parts of the event which was really well done were the Demonstration booths.
My favourite was Linda Higgin's session. She was demonstrating window sheet WOW projects.
One of my favourite Wow's that Linda had on display was the acetate (window sheet) Floral Framlit cards with glimmer paper and butterflies in the centre.
Supurb aren't they?
Another special feature of the Heartfelt event was the Product Playground.
We saw this first at Convention in Canberra last May. It was very popular and it was great seeing so many people getting the opportunity to try the new tools and products.
Jill and I spent a lot of time at the Big shot tables.... experimenting with dry embossing folders,
Core-dinations cardstock and the framelit dies.
And then we had a "wheely" good time at the wheel table: using the new illuminate ink pad, build-a-wheels and ink techniques.
We visited Kirrily, Juliette and Ellen's table to see the coloured and scented embossing powders being used with New heat setting tool.
The scented embossing powders are going to make Christams cards and gifts a multi-scensary experience this year.
Heartfelt was full of so many favourites ... we even made our own Christmas tree decoration to hang on the heartfelt tree and received a stamp as a gift.
Thank you Stampin' Up! and all my friends for making it a special day!
Let's do it again next year.

Crafters Anonymous Chatterbox project

Every Monday evening I try to be home and log in for the Crafters Anonymous classes... I miss them ocassionally and then I feel I have to catch up by making the project in the next week using the tutorial.
This one is called the chatterbox.
Remember those little paper folded thingies which had numbers and messages on the inside?
To give you an idea of measurements the outside cardstock square is 2 1/2" wide, the patterned paper inside squares are 4 by 4 inches.
When yo open it up it looks like this.
You can add small photos and a greeting inside, like a mini album or Christmas card.
Surprisingly easy to make (just scoring and folding) ... It is a  beautiful way to show off our new Designer Series papers: this one is Comfort Cafe.
Colours are Midnight muse, Summer Starfruit, Pool Party, Soft Suede and the lovely Cajun Craze ... which I prefer to call Terracotta or Red Ocre as that is more what it looks like.
Here it is half open and another look at the front because I have used a brand new stampset called:
Affection Collection.
This will be a fabulous stampset for Weddings, Anniversaries, Friendship, Valentines ... baby cards because of those gorgeous angel wings with a heart in the centre.

Two tags for Owl Occasions

If this is Saturday then you know that I am at Stampin' Up's Heartfelt Event at Darling Harbour and enjoying an exciting day ... what else can I say?
Wish you were here!
In the meantime, here is the card I made for the Demo boards for the stampin' up! Heartfelt event.
Owls are very popular this season - I am seeing them on pillows, Manchester, children's clothes, birthday cards and wrapping paper.
I have die cut a tag from the Two tags die using the Big shot in my favourite cardstock ( Crumb cake ).
Then glammed it up just a touch with a decorative strip of
 gold glimmer paper
cut with the Finishing Touches edgelit die.
It hides a piece of sticky strip that anchors my folded scallopped Tulle ribbon.
Did you notice the little owl crown?
It is a small piece of glimmer paper cut from the edgelit and raised on an even smaller piece of dimensional.
Recipe:
Cardstock: Crumb cake, Basic Black, Whisper white.
Gold Glimmer paper.
Stampsets: Greetings of the season, Owl Occasions
Ink: White craft ink, and Basic black.
Antique Brads. Scallopped Tulle ribbon.
Tools: Big shot by Sizzix.
Dies:Two tags die, Edgelits, Apothecary accents,
Embossing folder: Lacy Brocade.
Corner rounder.

Another Floral Framelit card

Thank you cards are so few and far between these days.
Most people jot off a quick email or facebook post.
The moment is cherished but then forgotten.
A handmade card arrives as happy mail  and lasts a whole lot longer than a text.
The five framelit dies in this set can layer one on top of each other to make a gorgeous flower card.
The stamping is a coordinating set called "Daydream Medallions" and the centre is a cute little
Thank U stamp from "Pennant Parade".
So here is my Thank you card to all my local customers who place a customer order or host a party this month. All it needs I think is a bow on top.

Artistic Etchings with Postage due

When I first flipped through the current Stampin' Up! catalogue I was so excited to see that Artistic etchings (the stampset with the eiffel tower and keys and crowns) was there and a lovely new stampset called Postage due. All in the modern vintage style that I love.
These colours and style elements are inspired by a card in the latest Stampin' Up Impressions magazine.
Crumb cake card and ink with small accents of the new in-colours: Raspberry Ripple, Midnight muse, Summer starfruit, Gumball green and Primrose petals.
The postage due collage stamp makes great background stamping.
The three postage stamp images are definitely vintage in style and fit perfectly into the coordinating Postage stamp punch.
A bit of twine wraps around the card like an old fashioned parcel sent by post.
Tell me if you like this style, too?

Gold spritz Snow flurry

I had a day with my Big shot machine recently.
Just me and the Big shot, some leftover acetate, white cardstock and some spare time.
I made a card using silver spritzing spray and the snow flurry template so for something different I used the gold spritz spray with the snow flurry stencil and  got gold snowflakes.
The gold spritzing shines in the sunlight and so I have matched it with a gold glimmery brad in the centre.

Crumb cake butterflies

It is Spring which means new leaves, blossoms and butterflies floating about the garden.
I like the colour of this crumb cake cardstock with white - it reminds me of sand at the beach.
Or the leftover crumbs after a summer picnic?
The stampset is "Summer Solstice".
The leaves are stamped in whisper white ink and the butterflies in Basic Black stazon ink.
The sentiment is called "itty bitty banners" .
This is an all occasion style card where all you need to do is change the sentiment to happy birthday, or thank you, thinking of you, just for you ...

A big shot wedding card

White on white for weddings ... is the classic look.
Of course if you know the colour of the bridesmaids you could add that instead of pure white.
This one shows off just three of the embossing folders you can use with the big shot!
Lacy brocade, woodgrain, and houndstooth textured impressions.
And very simple to assemble.
The Congratulations stamp is from a greeting set called "Perfect Punches" because it coordinates with 5 of the most popular punches in the stampin' up range.
But by far the most economic way to cut out shapes is with the apothecary accent dies.
Wrapped up like a gift with organza and satin white ribbon.
The final detail is with two Glimmer paper hearts punched with the small heart punch.
