Quilting cards

Last Friday we made quilted cards at our class.
There are many different cards you can make that have a quilted effect. My favourite is to punch out a few quilted squares and run them through the Big shot machine a couple of times for texture and an interesting shape.
I chose a patterned paper with Coastal cabana and Wisteria Wonder colours that suggested the rest of the card. I punched eight or so postage stamp squares and stuck them to white cardstock. We rolled it through the big shot to create this apothecary shape, then texturised it.
And then we made a new folded card using the tag topper punch. To stay in the same quilted theme we decorated with hexagon shapes.
Sadly, today is the last day to order Free Sale-a-bration items with your $90 orders. You can text me today or tonight to get your last minute free products. Nerida m.0468 877 125

Hello Baby Boy!

I love making baby cards and gifts to celebrate a pregnancy and impending birth.
Today we showered a friend with baby gifts and wishes for a beautiful birth and healthy baby.
Here's the gift I put together ... A nappy cake.
I've made stork gifts with nappies wrapped in a baby blankets but this was my first "cake".
All made with a pack of 36 nappies and small elastic bands ( those rainbow ones) And some tightly tied ribbon around a fluffy blue hand towel.
Throw in some baby soap, baby bath and moisturiser with a baby singlet tied on top.
It looked great and I added a gift card made with the scallop tag topper punch.
I've indulged my love of Pool party, Coastal Cabana, silver and Island Indigo on the hello baby card.
I think the silver hearts and glimmer paper stars really make it sparkle. A piece of organza ribbon cut with flag ends was all it needed to say baby boy!

Mini Photo book

Inspiration for this project came from a gift I received a while ago from Felicity Hawkins. I enjoyed making this inspiration photo album for a friend who loves her animals, bikes, dogs and horses.
The front and back covers are made with 6"x6" cardboard and wrapped with patterned paper.
The inside pages are black cardstock decorated with quotes and scrapbooking papers with room to add your own photos.
I have stamped images from the Horse Frontier and Feel Goods over the top of the Designer series paper and a few gorgeous grunge mud splatters too.
To hold it closed I've used some Baked Brown Sugar stretched ruffled ribbon. The flower is made with tissue paper and brown paper and smooched with gold ink.
Would you like to make a version of this as a class at your place? All products can be ordered through my online store at Stampin up! Or by emailing me Nerida_carter@hotmail.com

A File folder card on the Envelope punch board

I have had a couple of requests for a tutorial on how to make the File folder card.
Remember this card?
As we only have 2 weeks left of Saleabration I am using some lovely Sweet Sorbet papers.
You will need:
1 piece of A4 Cardstock cut to 14.9 cm x 27cm
Sweet Sorbet Patterned paper measuring 5.1 x 14 cm
                                                        And 9.5 x 14 cm
Step 1. Score the longest side at 5.5cm and 16.5cm.
2. Stick your patterned paper onto the cardstock. Smaller piece on the small panel, larger piece on the larger scored panel.
3. Using your envelope punch board measure 3" (or 7.5cm) and Punch a notch.
4. Slide it across to the edge and punch a half notch.
Here it is with the designer patterned paper on it. Showing the half notch and 3" measurement.
5. Next we move back to our stampin up cutter to remove one of the tabs.
6. Line up the deepest part of the notch with the groove in your cutter and put your cutting blade in the notch. Slide the blade down and cut off the lower tab.
Here it is after its cut off, showing how it looks with the DSP.
7. Next, we need to fold along the scored lines and add a glimmer paper flower, held on with a dimensional to hold the tab top closed.
Decorating with a couple of punched butterflies and rhinestone jewels.
8. Lastly, you might stamp your greeting in a matching ink.
I've used Tangerine Tango to match the cardstock colour.
And a piece of gold washi tape or you could use a piece of ribbon.
Materials -
Stampset: Bring on the Cake
Designer Series Paper: Saleabration Sweet Sorbet
Cardstock and ink: Tangerine Tango
Punches: Itty bitty butterfly, Pansy Punch, 7/8" scallop punch.
Dimensional foam dots, champagne glimmer paper, watercolour wonder washi tape.
Tools: Stampin' up! cutter and Envelope punch board (EPB).

Tag topper box and Saleabration papers

Something else to make with the tag topper punch... The tag topper box!
I love a product that does more than just one thing. This box is perfect to put some Easter eggs, lollies or a small gift inside.
It is made using a basic 2,4,6,8 Box design.
Haven't heard of that before?
They are the simple scoring measurements for a basic box.
You will need: a 21cm x 14.9cm piece of card, (approx 8 1/4" x 6").
Which is  scored and folded on the 2, 4,6 & 8 inch lines.
To make the tag top I cut down along each of the lines from the top by about 1 1/2" (4cm). This makes four flaps at the top.
You punch two of the tag ends with the tag topper punch and then fold two flaps down and two stand up to be tied with ribbon at the top.
The base is folded to make a square bottom.
It's easier to punch before you fold and stick the box together, just saying.
The two opposite top tabs stand up so you can tie them with some stretchy ruffled ribbon.
Finally you can decorate with some punched flowers and the banner punch using the FREE Sweet sorbet Sale-a-bration papers with A silver button and twine for the centre.
Just a reminder we only have 3 weeks left of Sale-a-bration. Plenty of time to get your free product for every $90 you spend until 31 March, or maybe not.

Making Boxes with the Envelope Punch Board

We all love the boxes with the envelope punch board but
seriously the maths does my ahead in.
So here it is someone has created a little calculator to use:
http://www.thecraftyowl.co.uk/boxbuster/
Personally I just like to have a recipe to follow, measurements
spelt out, score lines, everything written down.
This gorgeous box is quite large enough to fill with a scarf and
a square book, plus the card inside.
It's made with a single piece of 12" x 12" designer series
paper (DSP).
Box Recipe:
1. Line up the 12x12 piece of paper or cardstock with the
4" mark on the Envelope punch board.
Punch a notch and score with the bone folder, your score line
won't reach to the edge of the paper.
2. Rotate your paper and punch the next edge at 4"' , punch
and score.
Punch and score at 4" on all four sides.
3. Flip the paper over.
4. Punch and score at 4", on all 4 sides.
You will have two notches and 2 score lines on each edge of
your square of paper.
5. Now, Score the top flaps.
Lining up the corner with the board, score from the notch to
the right hand side groove.
Do this On all four corners of your paper.
6. Turn your paper with one corner facing you and Cut with
scissors up to the first fold line.
Rotate your paper180 degrees and Cut two lines up to the
first fold on that side.
The photo above shows the four cuts.
7. Fold along all score lines to create a box and apply
adhesive to one flap only.  You can use snail for a temporary
fix or sticky strip which will hold it firm.
Note: Leave one end open without any glue on it.
8. Tuck the flaps in and this is your box opening to slip your
gifts into.
9. You can decorate your box with a ribbon belly band to
keep it closed and a paper flower, or a piece of twine and a
gift card in an envelope.
