A whitish Wedding card and Challenge 3 of the cyber stamp!

The third challenge in the weekend's cyber-stamp on Angela's forum was to design a card inspired by a photo. The picture showed cakes with ribbon, roses, pearls and flowers for a wedding.
Perfect! I have just made a card that features almost all those things.
Jess' Teacher is getting married over the school holidays so together we made this lovely card for her.
It features the Secret garden flower stamped in Elegant Eggplant and layered onto a couple of crunched Blossom punches. All on naturals white cardstock.
Did you notice the musical notes in the background?
This is a fabulous Specialty paper called... Naturals.
The crumb cake pattern is raised with glossy embossing and the backing paper can be sponged, stamped or brayered with any ink you choose.
For a wedding card I sponged and wiped it over with my white ink pad.
Then cut out an oval from another piece and sponged that in white too.
Well it is a wedding card... white and off white are very shabby chic.
Add some organza ribbon and flower trim, Pearls and another scrunched flower - It all says wedding to me.
....And then we had to decorate the inside, so,
We used a new stampset (with matching Framelits) called "Hearts a flutter" and over stamped it with last season's "Affection collection" stamps.
And then,
we added this pop up wedding dress - tad dah!!!
The lace dress is fashioned with a piece of lace from the Embellishment Kit,
on the dress dummy from the "Established Elegance" stamp set.
It may be a little over the top but we know Jess' teacher just loved it!
And since she likes a bit of purple we thought it was just right.

Vintage dressing with established elegance

Here's something I whipped up this morning at 6am, when you just can't sleep another moment.
Too much on my mind I guess.
Any way I feel almost like a seamstress after making this card.
Our team, the Inksomniacs, have a monthly challenge on Stampin' Connection. Stampin' Up!s demonstrator site. ( Hey if you are thinking of joining this month the rewards are amazing!!! - 25% extra product in your Starter kit) you know, give me a call and I will explain.
The challenge this month is to make something vintage.
I designed the card using lots of product from the Autumn mini catalogue.
One of the BEST products in the mini is the Artisan Embellishment kit.
It contains ribbon, lace, buttons, tags - a whole lot of pretty to make beautiful things with.
I have used all the bits that say dress making - some of the poetry printed paper with dressmaking instructions (like your mum used to use).
Seam binding ribbon - crumpled and stuck on with some snail adhesive along the back.
A vintage button tied with bakers twine and the "dress" is a piece of very sheer lace.
I have used the gorgeous oval shaped lace to make a "dress" on my seamstress dummy.
The button is also from the kit and I have tied it with a piece of white baker's twine and then added some white cardstock embossed and cut with the large scallop edgelit on the bottom.
Card Recipe:
Stampset: Established Elegance $38.95 (Annual Catalogue)
Artisan embellishment kit -  $16.95 (on page10 Autumn mini catalogue)
Poetry DSP paper $11.95 (p16)
Ribbon: Very vanilla Seambinding
Cardstock: Crumb cake, whisper white.
Ink: Early Espresso
Tools: Sponge
Big shot machine
Embossing folders: Needle point border $13.95, Delicate designs $15.95
Large scallop edgelit $13.95.

Established elegance chalkboard technique

Have you seen the "Chalkboard Technique" around everywhere?
I guess I've been seeing it because it is  in all the back to school adds. And it was part of the "I am ..." theme at Stampin' Up!s convention last May.  (oooh, roll on Brisbane 2013).
It's quite easy to re-create the look with some black cardstock and white ink.
All you do is lightly wipe a tissue onto your Craft Whisper White Ink pad and gently smudge it  over a piece of  "Basic Black Cardstock" to make it look like someone has erased the chalkboard.
I only dabbed it very lightly with a dry tissue.
If it doesn't look right just rub off the wet ink with a clean tissue - remember less is always more.
Then I stamped the words and images with whisper white ink over the top and let it dry.
For some reason I tend to make cards in threes, my next two cards I have given a vintage style by adding diecut scallop circles in First Edition Specialty paper.
If you want the writing to really stand out you can use "White Embossing Powder" and set it with your "Heat Tool".  My ink is really juicy and I was happy with this result.
The images are from the "Established Elegance" and "Sweet Essentials" stampset. I just love the old fashioned typewriter, key and ink nib. The faux stitching is easily done with a Paper piercing tool and white Signo gel pen.

Timeless Portrait in the lumpy bumpy style

I think this is the style that was meant for me.
Layers of fabric, texture, ribbons, border punches, vintage, but fairly clean and a few pearls for embellishment.
I quite enjoyed making this card using the Forever young, Established Elements and Kindness matters stampsets.
I have fussy cut the picture frame and ink swirl  stepping them up with dimensionals.
Which by the way stick very well to fabric and ribbon.
I've manage to use my Lace ribbon border punch with First Edition printed paper.
And punched the Modern label for my sentiment.
The embossed frame is made with the big shot and Designer frames folder.
My Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon has been tied into a bow and crumpled mercilessly...
Sprayed with a bit of shimmer mist spray and crumpled again!
The fabric circle is Timeless portrait fabric cut out with my Big shot and Clear Circle die.
You will find it on page 158 of the 2012 IB&C.

January Scrapbook page

A simple scrapbook page for the beginning of the year - using stamps, my bigshot alphabet and some First Edition designer series paper.
The typewriter image from Established Elegance is great for an education themed page.
For me it is a traditional element that says writing, working and playing with words.
My dad had an enormous remington typewriter in his office (downstairs beside the garage) I remember being able to play on it and dreaming of working in an office when I grew up ....
It is said be careful what you wish for, you just might get it !
...and I spent 26 years working in an office using a computer keyboard for most of it.
Early thoughts lead us to where we are now.
Here is Jess on her first day of school this year.
I have also used the Elementary Elegance stampset framing the 4 with butterflies, keys and crowns.
The typewriter spits out my journalling on a small Curly label punched piece of cardstock.
I have repeated the same images (making my own background paper) on to the First Edition printed paper. Adding two pieces of punched ribbon border to the sides.
The colours I have used are Rose Red, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.
Enjoy!!!

Established Elegance ...

I do like new stampsets ...
very very much, and new tools to play with!
I have CASE'd (copy and share everything) this card, almost exactly, from the Stampin' Up! idea book  on page 83, because I just love the antique elements and details.
From the First edition newsprint on the circle scallop die to the embossed framed image and distressed paper ... the antique tag and crumpled lace, antique brad, pearls and crumpled ribbon.
The stampset is called Established Elegance: it has a very vintage, very french antique style... which considering my advancing age is very me at the moment... and its very fashionable to be antique right now.
So that's what made me happy this week: a new stampset and an antique card to share.

Oh HAPPY Mail !

There is nothing quite like a parcel in the post.
Filled with a handmade card, coffee and chocolate ...
This gorgeous card and gifts are from Felicity
You can see some of her other beautiful projects at: Felicity's craft corner.
The card is made with the Beautiful colours: Marina mist, Perfect Plum and Rose red with some Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon .
How lovely is the fussy cutting of the Established elegance seamstress doll?
The layers of texture are very lush: expecially the vintage wallpaper embossing and the oval frame.
The gifts were wrapped and tied with a handmade clay medallion (texture stamped with an Artistic Etchings stamp). Is it time for another cup of coffee yet?
