Fabulous folds - A Never ending card story...

I have had this idea on my to do list for a long time.
Our Stampin' Up Impressions magazine featured this fabulous folding card last month.
And Crafters Anonymous have a lift the flap challenge, this fortnight too.
(I think this qualifies as a lift the flap kind of card).
So finally, I created my own Never Ending Card.
This is the outside of the card. I kept the colours simple to start with Pear Pizzazz and Marina Mist on whisper white, using the "Fox and Friends" and "Party this way" stamp sets throughout all the layers of the card for continuity (to make it seem never ending).
To begin you open the centre of the card and fold the pieces backwards.
I've taken a photo to try and show you how it opens up in the middle and reveals the next layer of card.
You could add your sentiment to this layer, or the last layer, or both.
I've introduced Peach parfait, Melon Mambo and Poppy Parade to mix up the colours and tell the story of the animals coming to the party. These would make great invitations don't you think?
Opening the next layer reveals more of the animals heading to the birthday party.
Perhaps, you could add some story lines and make it like a never ending book....
...and then Mr Turtle said  to Mr Lion "are you going to the birthday party too"? (or perhaps not).
I think this is the third layer ... three giraffes heading to the party.
Which brings us to layer four... Mmmm, next version I must remember to add more white space.
Or perhaps a final flap for writing your message on.
Its not too late, I can add a punched out shape, which lifts up on one of those balloons.
Wouldn't it be cute if the balloons lifted up to reveal a written messages underneath?
Here's a top shot to show you that by opening the inside of the final layer, we have returned to the front of the card again.
By opening the middle you start the never ending card story all over again.
Kids especially love this kind of card as it just keeps opening up in the centre and goes 'round and 'round, until you are finished playing with it. Which may be never...
Enjoy!!!

Party this way ...

I am trying very hard this week to show you lots of new stampsets from the new catalogue without actually showing you what we will be making at the launch on Wednesday night.
Fortunately there are so many new stampsets and products in the new caty that this is not very difficult.
We are only making three projects at the launch and I have many more than three new stamps and products to show you....
This little card was another one we made at convention in May with one of the free stampsets we received, that I wasn't able to show you before September ... Party this way comes with coordinating rub-ons. The word "wish" is a rub on.
The circle up the top is supposed to have a number like 7 or 8 for the birthday child's age ... but I haven't rubbed it on yet because I haven't sent it yet~!
The centre party arrow swivels around on its 360 degree axis - don't we love the flippy spinny bits on a card?
You can do this with a brad, a glue dot and a circle of cardstock at the back.
And this one comes with its own stamped envelope. It would make a great invitation style card and great for scrap book pages too.
Stampin' supplies:
Stamp set: Party this way
Cardstock: Bashful blue, Crumb cake (previously called kraft), Melon Mambo, Old Olive, So Saffron, whisper white.
Ink: Melon Mambo, Old Olive, So Saffron.
Accessories: BDay party rub ons p.134, silver brad, mat pack, paper piercing tool, 1" circle punch, 1 3/8" square punch, stampin' dimensionals, snail, bone folder, and small square whisper white envelopes p.123.

Party this way!

Do you recall Convention way back in May this year?
Well here is one of the projects we made during the make and take session.
Here it is closed ... it is something between a birthday card, scrap book page and a gift wrapped photo card.
It opens up to reveal two places to put your photos and Birthday message or journalling.
It features that gorgeous new 1 1/4 inch grossgrain ribbon that now comes in no less than eleven new colours.
We have a panel of Old olive cardstock to paste a photo on and a white panel with the cute little candle stamped on it in melon mambo ink. And a bashful blue ribbon.
The second page: a bashful blue panel and whisper white strip to stamp your birthday balloon on to.
I havent quite finished it ... the string on the balloon needs to be drawn in and some happy birthday words.
The melon mambo balloon is popped up on dimensionals and a rhinestone brad shining there on the number 8. This one is going to be a great stampset for birthdays.
Card recipe:
Stampset: Party this way.
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, So safron, Old olive, bashful blue, whisper white.
Ink: melon mambo
Rub ons: Birthday party
Old Olive 1 1/4" striped Ribbon, rhinestone brad, eyelet border punch, bashful blue thin grosgrain.
