Christmas layout ... I wish

Do you have a pile of Christmas photos just waiting to be scrapped or displayed in a frame? I always take a heap of digital photos and wait months before scrapping just a few of them. So this year I have got in early and becaused this I wish scrap kit makes it so easy, I finished this page in double quick time.

The Title is simply "Christmas" ... embossed in gold and paper pieced in Old Olive Cardstock.
Might add 2009 when I dig my numbers out.

I have wrapped the whole page like a present with the Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and tied a bow.
The rest of the embellishments are stickers. Very quick to choose because they all are colour coordinated and the style goes perfectly with the Snow swirled stampset.

Above shows a detail of the scalloped edge stickers for borders and edging
with "I wish ..."  "Joy, because I love you!" stickers.

Scrapbook page Recipe:
Stampset: Jumbo outline alphabet.

Cardstock: chocolate chip textured cardstock, Old olive cardstock,
 Ink: versamark. Old olive ribbon.
Tools: gold embossing powder, heat tool.

I wish scrapbook

It is Christmas photo shoot time of year ... in the last week of November we have to get our photos taken to send to relatives and friends with their Chrismas letters. This is the quickest scrapbook page I have ever made... 3 photos, a square of Designer series paper, sticker embellishments, title and a ribbon bow. My daughter's quick wish list written in with the chocolate chip marker and some more sticker stars in real red ... why haven't I discovered these scrapping kits before.
The stickers are on heavy weight cardstock and you get two of everything! Plus the sheet that comes with the pack has card and scrapbook ideas to make.
The colours include chocolate chip, real red, old olive and white. You can colour coodinate your Christmas cards and christmas tags to match with any of these colours.
And the stickers are designed to be layered onto each other (above) the brown and white scallop and the merry and bright red circle fit together beautifully.
Enjoy!!!

Merry and Bright - I wish, I wish, I wish ...

I am wishing for: a merry and bright Christmas, to be with the ones I love, and lots and lots of love from my family ... and maybe some handmade cards.
I just want to share with you two cards I have made with left over bits from the "I wish" scrappin' kit. I will show you the scrapbook pages I have made later ... It makes cards really quick as I can show you here!

Best things about using the kit to make cards?
No wasted time choosing colours, the colours in the kit are perfect together.

  • The kit comes with stickers (on very thick card) that you just peel off and stick onto your card or page, perfect.
  • There are scallopped edge stickers, just peel off, trim to size and stick them on.
  • It comes with 8 pieces of Textured 12 x 12" cardstock
  • 6 sheets of double sided patterned papers
  • ideas of how to use them. The Old Olive card here, I have made with a strip of the patterned paper, two stickers layered on top of one another, a strip of red scalloped edge cardstock and a piece of chocolate chip ribbon.
Instant card making: just add adhesive, ribbon and a dash of what ever takes your fancy. For the second card I have used some real red cardstock, the pack comes with textured cardstock that you can cut to make your cards (but I am keeping them for my scrap book pages) and so I have used some real red cardstock, some more chocolate chip ribbon and a sentiment from the "Best yet" Hostess stampset, stamped on whisper white using the large oval punch. The medallion with the brown snowflake is a sticker from the kit that I have placed on a scallop circle of old olive and I have added the scallop edges for a bit of trimming. What I have used to make these cards:
  • I wish scrappin kit (just a tiny bit of the kit)
  • Cardstock: real red and Old olive
  • Ink: chocolate chip
  • stampset: best yet!
  • Punches: large oval, scallop circle and scallop edge.
  • Ribbon: 1/4" chocolate chip grosgrain

I wish card

I have so much to share with you ... this is the card I made last Tuesday night with friends (I have only just managed to photograph it and download it to the computer) ... it has been a busy couple of days but I really liked how this card came out with the torn paper edges and red and green door. It looks like a cupboard with handles to open. Here you can see the little silver brads and snow flake circle handles up close.
The Paper I have used is from the "I wish" scrappin' paper pack. I will show you some more of that in another post. I really like Real red, Old olive and chocolate chip together as christmas colours.. rich and earthy and the antique silver brads go fabulously as a centre for the snow flakes.
*** What I used to make this card:
Stampset: snow swirled (only the little flake)
Ink: Real red (you can use the coloured marker or the ink pad for this)
Paper: a couple of strips from the "I wish" scrappin' pack.
Cardstock: Real red, Whisper white and Old Olive
Snail adhesive, Antique silver brads and a piece of thin red ribbon ...
Enjoy!!!!

Have you seen one of these pyramid cards before?

The first time I saw one of these pyramid cards was on Makeeshabyl's blog and I just had to make one, but sadly, it has been on my to make list for a long long time. Last Saturday I had all my craft papers, cardstock and stamps spread out over the table, and decided to have a go at it.
Quite a simple construction actually, 3 pieces of square 4"x 4" cardstock, scored, folded and voila! This side shows the "front" so to speak with greeting and snowflake medallion. Here I have used the snow swirled snow flake stamped on whisper white cardstock, with black stazon. I have punched out the circle scallop and then attached another circle of acetate on top with a Black brad through both layers. The top layer of acetate is stamped with white stazon ink.
Loving this effect. You can turn the Snowflake and it changes from black to white to grey .... cool huh?
The next side (mmm, side 2 of 3) has a triangle of patterned paper from the "I wish" Scrappin' pack. It matches perfectly with the snow swirled stampset.
To set this off I have attached a black and clear acetate snow flake with a white brad.
Last side (side 3) is kind of the back side so for good measure I have added the greeting and a riding hood red ribbon bow (this holds it all together). The greeting is from Best yet stampset, stamped on the large oval punch and matted with the scallop oval punch.
Love this taffetta ribbon tied through the double slot punch ... did I mention that there are only 17 days left to order the scallop oval punch from the Spring mini catalogue.... It is a must have item (honestly) ... and have you got your white stazon ink yet?And last photo is a front and top view just to show it really is a pyramid... you can untie the ribbon to lay it flat to write on and post ... might need instructions on how to tie it back together for those craft challenged gift card recievers.
What you might need to make this card:
3 x pieces of 4"x4" cardstock (two colours) I have used Riding hood red and Old olive cardstock.
Ink: white stazon, black stazon.
Brads: black and white.
Ribbon: Riding hood red taffeta
Designer series Paper: I wish scrap pack.
Punches: Circle scallop punch, Oval scallop punch, large oval punch, two slot punch, 1.3cm circle punch. Bone scorer and Taylor's awl (to make holes).
