The Double gate fold card Tutorial

The double gate fold card is a fairly new fold circulating around card-making sites.
Here is what you need:
A double sided patterned paper measuring 5 6/8" x 12" (14.6 x 30.5cm)
White cardstock (1/2 A4 sheet)
Simply Scored tool with scoring stylus.
Bone folder.
Stampin' Trimmer or Tabletop cutter.
Anywhere Glue stick
Big shot and Apothecary accents dies
Butterfly punch
Stampsets: Friendly Phrases and Papillon Potpouri
Ink and sponges.
Step 1. Score your patterned paper at 2", 4", 8" and 10".
Tip: Using the Simply Scored Tool set the place markers at the measurements on the ruler along the top.
Simply pull your scoring Stylus down towards you along the grooved lines.
Step 2. Turn your paper and make a small mark at the 2 7/8" point
(or just pinch the piece in half at the top).
Step 3. Trim off the two corners.
Using your paper trimmer, just line up the pinch fold mark with the 4" fold diagonally.
It will look something like this:
Step 4. Fold the 4" score line over to the 8" score line. Repeat on the other side.
Step 5. Then fold the flaps, at the 2" score, back to the outer edge to make the double gate.
 Looking a bit like this:
Step 6. Now, Take the triangle that you cut off the right hand side and glue it down onto the left hand panel.
Step 7.   Fold creases flat with your bone folder.
Now you are ready to embellish your double gate fold card.
Step 8. Stamp one of the die cut shapes from the Apothecary Accents framelits
with a sentiment for your card and sponge the edges in a coordinating ink colour.
I have used Raspberry Ripple to match my in-colour Foral District papers.
Step 9.  For the insert you could cut a piece of whisper white cardstock to fit the inside panel.
(approx 5 1/2" x 3 3/4")
 OR
You can die cut the largest framelit shape from the Apothecary Accent Dies in your Big shot machine.
Step 10.  Adhere the sponged panels to your card.
Note: the front sentiment is only adhered by one dimensional on the left hand side.
I have stamped my inner panel with butterflies from Papillon Potpouri (in summer starfruit ink).
And sponged  the edges with midnight muse ink.
Step 11. You can punch or cut a butterfly shape and stick it on the right hand side panel to help with holding the card closed. The larger the butterfly the better the closure.

Enjoy!

Launch nigth party!

It was a very big night...
I want to say Thank you to the eight beautiful, lovely ladies who came to my launch night on Saturday!
We made three projects and used a pile of new products from the new Annual Catalogue and the Seasonal catalogue.
In the hall we had seventy or more women, crafting, talking, making cards and gifts and learning new techniques.
A great chance to catch up with friends we haven't seen for such a long time.
I hope you all had fun?
We played with the new Core'dinations cardstock, embossed with woodgrain and sanded it to reveal its different coloured core.
These gorgeous little owls were certainly a hit. We punched them out from the Snow Festival Designer Series paper (DSP) with the 1" circle punch. She is peeking through the 1 1/4" circled hole in her tree.
We tried a new paper fold, scoring it with the Simply Scored Tool and embellishing it with new Apothecary Accent Framelit dies.
I was so busy all night at my table, I didn't have time to photograph the sample table, or our completed projects on the night, so this one doesn't show the new butterfly punch we used.
Every launch night needs a 3 D item, a gift you take home to give away, or use yourself.
I designed this note book holder that you can keep your Christmas lists. All those friend and family gift lists and christmas card lists in.
We used the Big shot for the Oval Accent die which folds down over the top and is embossed with another new embossing folder called Lacy Brocade.
The flap is secured beneath a 40cm piece of Scalloped Tulle ribbon, so easy to tie and make look pretty.
Hanging from the tulle bow is a gingerbread man (isn't he fabulous?) and the note book is covered with more Snow festival paper.
Very tired this morning - I had fun -What a way to launch two amazing new catalogues!
Our three projects only scraped the surface of all the new things on offer.

The Simply scored origami gift card holder.

When I saw these demonstrated by Michelle Le Breton recently I was aching to give them a try.
Great way to use all your gorgeous patterned papers to make a substantial and very clever gift folder.
This first one features one piece of 12x12
"Cheerful treat" patterned paper - from page 9 of the Catalogue.
I made a just for you card to slip in one pocket with the bicycle stamp out of the Autumn mini cat.
My daughter loves this stampset.
She also wrote a note to her aunty to go inside behind the chocolates.
What I love about this cross over folded wallet is that it has numerous pockets for you to put notes, tags and gift cards in.
It easily fits a gift card and an Artist trading card (which you can write a note on the back of), plus T-bags  and a chocolate inside.
I made a another one ... in pink -
Using some Melon Mambo pink ribbon to decorate it with and then I embellished it with the
Doily triple layer punch and button dies to make a flower on the front.
And there is a Jelly Bean Brad in the centre 'cause we all love cup cakes...
My tag, that I am tuckng in this one, has the Summer Solstice butterfly and words that say:
"We meet no ordinary people in our lives."
I made all my origami folds using the Simply Scored tool and a bone folder.
Enjoy!!!

OR join up as a hobby demonstrator and get a pack of patterned paper
 every month
until the end of the year!!!
I want to sign up again just for the free paper.
$170 gets you there.
Call me, phone me, text me: 0468 877 125 soon, as it only lasts till 31 May.
I will email you the order form and once it's posted you will be receiving your starter pack and papers.
Isn't this an elegant wrapped package?
I got this idea from our Elite stamper's team training...
Did I mention I am also going to the Inksomniacs Team Training this Saturday night?
Want to join me?
This gorgeous little package is made so easily with the Simply scored scoring tool.
With the scoring tool you can score the paper in a 5, 10, 5, 10, 1cm pattern and fold it top and bottom to make a gorgeous box.
The curved front of the flap is made with the edgelit die (run through with my ever handy Big shot machine).
The embellishments are:
 some Real Red Ribbon.
and two Blossom punched flowers in Poppy Parade cardstock
held on with a Fire ice square brad.
Have a workshop this month and I will make you one of these with goodies inside.
Or order some Papers and make one yourself.

Making boxes with the Simply Scored Scoring tool.

The simply scored scoring tool
 is fabulous for:
1. Scoring the fold in your cards, no crooked, slightly wonky folds any more!!!
2. Making concertina (accordion) folded rosettes
and
3. Scoring the measurements of
 card stock boxes.
You can make boxes any size you like (up to 30.5 x 30.5cm).
I took some photos of the DVD box I made recently,
to show you all the cool features on the "Simply Scored" tool.
At the top there are imperial measurements (and it comes with a metric insert that slides into the board.)
At the top end of the board is a little compartment to hold your extra scoring tools in.
Very clever idea ... I have checked out the other score pads on the market and they dont have all these features. It also comes with its own scoring stylus....
Any way, Card stock for my box was 11 5/8" wide and 8 1/4 " deep.
I scored lines for the spine of my DVD box dragging the stylus from top to bottom, turned it sideways and scored the sides too.
I won't bore you with the maths.... it's actually easier using the metric insert.
The "simply scored" comes with three little pins to measure where to make your score lines.
Especially if you want to make more than one, you don't have to keep measuring and doing the maths in your head because the pins keep the place on the board.
Did I mention that it also comes with its own scoring stylus tool?
So you don't have to use your bone folder. The scoring tool is very comfortable and allows for a fine precision score mark.
Having cut and scored my paper. I was then able to fold the box around my DVD and stick it together with sticky strip. Too easy!
The decoration was explained in a previous post. Now for the details:
