Trendy trees make and take

At convention we made FOUR projects in the make and take session. Well actually I only had time to make 2 of them ... too excited, too many people to talk to, it was afternoon and I was low on caffeine (hadn't had a tea or coffee since 8am that morning).
This is a gorgous little stampset, love those tree images ...
Here's a close up of the different trees stamped in a row. We used the stamp-a-ma-jig ( a wonderful tool for getting things straight and lined up perfectly).
And we cut the third tree out after rock and rolling it in the respective ink pads. Then raised it up on dimensionals. You get a real sense of achievement after building one of these cards, following the written instructions and with help from the other demos at your table you can usually figure it out, eventually.

Materials: Stampset - trendy trees. Cardstock: textured chocolate chip for the base, Old olive for the mount, whisper white and So Saffron for the tag. Ink: choc chip, old olive, riding hood red, so saffron, tangerine tango.

Accessories: Riding hood red 5/8" striped ribbon, Linen thread, snail adhesive, stampin' dimensionals and the stamp-a-ma-jig.

A couple of Lions for a Happy Birthday card

This "Couple of Lions" card is for a friend's 6 year old son. The lion's heads can turn left and right, a full 360 degrees ... I love an interactive card where the recipient can touch and play with it especially for children's birthday cards.

Just love these lions too from the Wild about You stampset in pumpkin pie and chocolate chip ink. The Cardstock colours are green galore, ballet blue, pumpkin pie and whisper white.

Stampsets: Wild about You and A Little Birthday Cheer.
I also used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the word stamp straight.
Punches used: Star punch, large oval, Scallop circle and circle punches.

Botanical Birthday card

I enjoyed making this card ... fiddly but for one it is back to the purple cardstock and inks I like to play with.
It has embossing (in white) and vellum, and flowers that I have stamped in Orchid Opulence and Elegant eggplant using the two step stamping technique. The flowers at the top I have stamped in eggplant ink, but you could do this in versamark for that watermark look.

Here is a close up of the embossing on the velum, this is very fast, as the velum helps to heat the powder and it melts very quickly. If you hold the heat on it too long it will spread and you lose that crisp raised appearance. Tell me about it ... I learn by experience. The Materials:

Cardstock: Elegant eggplant, orchid opulence and whisper white. Velum.

Inks: white craft ink, Elegant eggplant, orchid opulence.

White signo gel pen for the faux stitching.

White brads, Stamp-a-ma-jig and Mat pack .

Stampsets: Botanical Blooms (SAB2009), Finest flourishes, and Stem sayings.

Stamp a ma jig tutorial - stamp positioner.

If you havent seen or heard of one of these before, or you have one but haven't used it ... or have lost the instructions, then this for you.
The first time I saw it used, I said " I need one of those!"
What do they do? Well, They help you line up your stamps straight- but Why?
It is a very handy tool to use for titles, headings, words on your cards and scrapbooking and when you want to over-stamp an image, or get it very close to, or just touching another stamped image ... that can be near impossible to do by eye alone.

It comes with a handle and an imaging sheet.

First, you put your imaging sheet into the corner of the stamp a ma jig (SAMJ).
2. Align your stamp in the corner and stamp it onto the imaging sheet.
3. Position your imaging sheet on the paper where you want to place the stamp. You can see exactly where it will go.

Line up the stamp-a-ma-jig with the imaging sheet.

4. Hold the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig in place, and carefully remove the imaging sheet.
Align the stamp into the corner of your Stamp-a-m-a-jig and stamp the word or image.
That's it! A straight, perfectly positioned stamp, just where you wanted it!

The instructions also add:
  • Use the rough side for craft ink and the smooth side for classic ink pads.
  • Achieve perfect stamp positioning every time
  • Designed for left or right hand use
  • Sturdy non slip surface
  • Clean with a damp cloth or Stampin' mist spray.
