How to make a Gift Box with the Envelope Punch Board

How to make a box with the envelope punch board?
Easy peasy! What do you need ?
You will need the envelope punch board (EPB).
A piece of cardstock or patterned paper measuring 9" x 9".
Some adhesive. Either double sided tape, or snail, or sticky strip works fine.
A pair of sharp scissors.
Step 1. Line up the left side of your paper at the 3" mark, punch the oval button to remove your first notch, and using the scoring tool, score along the score line.
Then slide the paper right and punch another notch at  the 5" mark and score again.
Step 2. Turn your paper 90 degrees.
Punch at 3" mark, score and slide the paper to 5" mark. Punch and score again.
Do this on all four sides until there are two notches and two score lines on each side of the paper.
Step 3. Fold all the score lines you have made.
Step 4. Use scissors to cut along one of the fold lines up to the first score line.
Turn your paper and cut up to the scoreline, again.  Do this on all four corners.
Step 5. Add some adhesive to each of the corner tabs.
Step 6. Now fold up your box along the score lines that we made.
Step 7. To close this box I have snipped a cut in both the top and bottom flaps and slid them into each other. But you could just use a bit of tape or snail adhesive. There are a few different ways to close your box.
Then lastly, all you need to do is decorate your box with a gift tag and perhaps a paper bow (which you can also make with your envelope punch board.)
I have used the chalk talk stamp set and matching Framelits to create the "For You" tag.
The gorgeous blue ink is called Pacific Point.
Would you like to make some gift boxes like this? We can do a class or a party at your place to make some boxes for Christmas gifts. These would fit about 3 large biscuits, a piece of Christmas cake, a mince pie, or perhaps several pieces of homemade fudge?

Things to do with the new envelope punch board from Stampin' Up!

I am making a list of the many things to do with the Stampin' Up! envelope punch board.
First on my list is:
1. You can make 66 different size envelopes. Especially the oversized ones that are difficult to buy,  and especially because you can make them in any colour or cardstock, patterned paper, weight and size. Yay at last!
2. Christmas crackers and Bon Bons to any size. Square shapes and hexagon shapes, there are tutorials all over the net.
3. Paper bows and ribbons to decorate a card, a gift box, your hair or anything. The top bow is made with a 1"x 6" paper strip, while the one below is made with 1 1/2" x 8" strip for the bow and 1" x 5" for the tail.
Oh yeah, These Paper bows are going to be everywhere in December.
4. The Tab tie box. This one is made from a piece of 6"x 6" piece of designer series paper (DSP).
Such a cute little box that is made up so quickly, you can stick down the top to seal it or punch holes into the top tabs and tie it with a ribbon! It will fit earrings, jewellery, lollies and chocolate stars or santas.
5. Cake boxes, pie boxes, biscuit boxes of every size. You decide the size of the base then add on the extra for the sides. I am going to make lots of boxes in the coming week so keep a look out for more photos and ideas.
Oh and if you decide you want one of these just email (nerida_carter@hotmail.com) or text me 0468877125 your order and for $31.95 plus shipping ($1.60 if you are local to the Central coast) I will order one for you this week.

Undefined...carve your own stamps

Well now for something a little different. Have you ever wanted a stamp that wasn't out there yet?
Or need a kids character stamp that you cant buy, or a textured stamp, had an idea for a creative card that no one has made before?
Well this kits for you!
Undefined stamps - Stampin ' Up! Have brought out their own stamp carving kit.
I had a try with these two stamps and made my first card using my own undefined stamps.
It's not perfect but neither am I... So it's very me.
With a hybrid of normal stamps and my two carved ones.

They were both easy to carve but the arrow is a little wonky and the hexagon too. I made them to fit with the hexagon embossing folder and the arrow Framelits I already have in my collection.
Just something different to do, it reminds me of the dim dark days of Lino cutting... Watch this space I am looking to try something else very soon.
The kit comes with the tools, rubber, wood blocks and a stampin write marker. Everything to get you started... And here's the link to the video showing you what's in it and what you can do.

Making Christmas BonBons with the envelope punch board

What can you make with the Stampin' Up! Envelope punch board?
66 envelope sizes for a start, but what else?
Christmas crackers!
Here's the tutorial:
You will Need - one piece of patterned paper 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Punch board, scorer, ribbon and adhesive.
Step 1. Score your paper lengthwise at 1, 2, 3, 4 inches.
Then turn your paper
Step 2. And score at 1", 1 1/2", 2" and 4 1/2", 5", 5 1/2".

Step 3. Use the bone folder to Create a mountain valley fold on each end, using the score marks so it looks like this.
Step 4. Fold along the one inch lengths and line up one fold on the punch board at the 2" mark.
Punch the oval button on your board to cut out a notch.
Slide your paper across to the 5" mark and punch again.
Step 5. Continue folding and punching at 2 and 5 inches on each folded  score line.
Punch out two notches along the the widest edge as well.
Step 6. Fold the Bon Bon in half and glue down the edge with sticky strip.
Step 7. Open up the cylinder and push the ends inward to create the shape.
Step 8. Tie the ends with ribbon and slide in a gift, trinket, chocolate, lipstick or lip balm perhaps.
These are the cutest and easiest Bon bons I could find to make. You can make them bigger but these were just the right size to make with Stampin' up!'s paper stacks in the Seasonal catalogue.
The envelope punch board is only $31.95 which for all the things you can do with it is quite a bargain.
Give me a call if you'd like me to put one on my next order for you. . . Nerida 0468877125
I will be demonstrating the new punch board at our card class on Friday 22nd. If you are coming along just let me know so I can keep you a place.

A million thanks

Needing a thank you card for Jessica 's choir teacher and with not much time I reached for a Simply created kit.
A stamp, some stickers, ribbon and rhinestones all come in the Million and one Kit.
I just love these colours: slate grey and Coastal cabana.  I have stamped the million and one stamp in Bermuda bay ink.
The lacy postcard layer is pre cut and looks great layered on the front of a card.
As the card is for a music teacher I had to add some musical notes. So I used the Modern Medley designer paper to decorate the slate grey envelope.
The I can't thank you enough comes from "chalk talk" stamp set and the tag is die cut with the Big shot  machine. So quick with the Big shot and a stamp to make your envelopes just a little bit special.
Million and One  stamp set p.161 clear mount $22.95
Simply Fabulous Simply sent card kit $22.95

Team challenge # 2

Another card to share. This time I have copied and shared the other layout from page 125 of the catalogue Team challenge.
I've used the hexagon punch, Afternoon Picnic DSP, and the background stamp is  "Dictionary".

Layout challenge -circles or hexagons?

I am on a roll at the moment using stamping challenges to inspire my cards and layouts.
The Elite Stampers team have some inspirational challenges going each month and I particularly liked this one as it is a fairly simple design.
You could use the layout for a square card, scrapbook page, in either My digital studio (MDS) or paper  or as I have, inspiration for a journal page.
Because I have several photos I stretched it out to a double spread. My favourite punch is this hexagon and of course it coordinates with the "This and That" designer paper and the "Afternoon picnic" papers as well.
I think the page needs a bigger title like "Choir!"
I do love the cute and quirky stickers that go with the "this and that" journal.
The pointing finger, "Save my place" and "Right Here" arrows.
Why not have a go at using this sketch for a Christmas card or birthday. They don't have to be circles or hexagons you could cut up squares or ovals. Why not have a go and see what you can do.
If you need any help with supplies to make your project just send me an email to nerida_carter@hotmail.com

A card sketch-challenge

A challenge is what I need sometimes to get the creative juices flowing.
Our stamping up team has a challenge this month and it is as simple as turning to page 125 in the Annual stampin' up! catalogue and choosing a card on that page. Then taking the layout of the card copy it, or use it as inspiration, to make your own card.
This is my interpretation of the right hand card from this page.
Instead of slate grey, white and green I changed up the colours to Real Red, white and silver.
Instead of a circle punched hole on my flag I punched a large oval and filled it with a mosaic punched shape rather than a star. The background piece is blotted with my Real red ink pad onto the naturals Specialty paper. This is a great patterned paper as the details are already clear embossed for you.
Lastly, the real red layer was embossed using the big shot plus a few punched silver foil stars and a stamped "Wishing you a Merry Christmas."

Rosette Christmas kit

Snow flake Rosettes in the early morning sunlight... It's as close to snowflakes as I will be getting this year.
Did you know you can make these decorations using just one Stampin' Up kit?
It's called the Christmas banner accessory kit and it can be used to make tree decorations and Christmas cards too.
The silver glitter embossed shapes are already done for you all that's left is to fold them, glue them together and cut your ribbon pieces.
The colours this Christmas are Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, island indigo and some pool party thrown in for good measure.

The ribbon on the one below is a two tone blue, just gorgeous.
How pretty are the vintage crystal facetted buttons especially with the large rhinestones in the centre?
We could get together to make these - all you will need is the kit for $16.95 and some adhesive like Sticky strip or a glue gun would work too.
Would you like to order a kit to make this?
We could run it as a class or a party with friends.
If you'd like to, email your order and contact me on  Nerida_carter@hotmail.com or 0468877125.
