Tutorial - heat and stick powder and glitter

Have you always wanted to know how to get your dazzling diamonds glitter and superfine glitter to stick to a stamped image shape, without falling off?The answer is Stampin' up's heat and stick powder!!! What you will need to make this project:
Heat and stick powder
Glitter (Dazzling diamonds or super fine glitter)
Versamark ink
Stampset: Gallery (works best with the solid stamp shapes)
Heat tool
Cardstock (whisper white or any colour really!)
Step 1. Stamp your image with Versamark ink. Hint: It is stickiest when just stamped, so don't let it dry out before putting the heat and stick powder on it.
Step 2. Cover the image in heat and stick powder. Then shake it off and return the excess powder to the container.Step 3. Heat the powdered image with a heat tool until it looks wet and sticky.Step 4. Cover the now sticky image with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Then pour the excess back into the container.Step 5. Heat it again gently, (very quickly this time) just to set it. Your glitter will be firmly in place it won't fall off now when your recipient touches it ... Here is another image I have covered in glitter with the heat and stick powder: I tried all the gallery stamps and then one of my favourites from the Great friends stampset ... I particularly like this butterfly especially this one with leaves and vines through it, so it deserves a pink super fine gletter that stays where it's put. Here it is combined with the dazzling diamonds gallery frame and a raised circle to give it all another layer of dimension. Wish I could show you how it glitters in the light. The finished project is on a whisper white cardstock base, basic black and pink passion cardstock. Now to sweep up the mysteriously scattered glitter from the carpet, chair and clothes...And finally, my daughter (6) has used one of the butterflies on a card for her friend. It also uses forest friends, with the great friends for you stamp in the top right corner. I love how the reindeer says hello and the sun that shines down on it all.Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! There are instructions that come with the product but if you are like me you like a few pictures to illustrate the finer details. Enjoy!

Forest friends ... a little something for a little someone

Today's card uses Forest friends and the Best yet stampsets:I have pulled out my embossing tools and done the bunny in silver embossing powder, he looks so cute for a baby card and shines in the light. The sentiment is from Best yet. The Best yet stampset is a hostess gift, you can only get it if you, and your friends host a workshop - either at your home or a virtual workshop (where you place orders to the value of $300). I love this little set it has words for nearly every occasion. I have used it constantly on my cards.
I like to use the circle punch and mat it with a darker coloured cardstock. To give some depth I have overstamped the sentiment with a pale pink pirouette damask stamp. The same one I have stamped in the background. The ribbon is Riding hood Red striped grosgrain. I chose these colours because they match with the Bella Rose designer series patterned papers.
And I can really only cope with monotone colour schemes atm.
Enjoy!

Chistmas forest friends

I know that I am stretching the Christmas theme here but I do like to make cards with non Christmas stampsets and non christmas colours...
My forest friends deer is embossed in silver and mounted on kiwi kiss cardstock and chocolate chip. The strip of baja breeze is wheeled with the so swirly stamping wheel in baja breeze ink.
Then I have cut a strip of the Designer series Ski Slope patterned paper and added
Some brads for that studded metallic look .... I needed some more silver to balance bambi!
My second card is made from the same stampsets and Ski slope paper ... with a base of kiwi kiss this time and some paper piercing in the corners around the Forest friend tree. This tree in silver just shines ... Did I say that I love embossing? And I love this colour combination : baja breeze, chocolate chip, real red and old olive ... and I added kiwi kiss because it is much brighter and lighter than old olive but goes well with it. The sentiment : Seasons Greetings is from from the Snow swirled stampset and I have used the two ink pads for a two tone effect. A bit of blue a bit of green, a few holes in the corner, silver brads - It's another Christmas card: the layout could suit many different card occasions by just changing the sentiment.
Materials:
Stampset - Forest friends, Snow swirled.
Cardstock: Kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, baja breeze. DSP: Ski slope patterned paper (spring mini $16.95). Ink: baja breeze, kiwi kiss, Versamark. Tools: embossing powder and heat tool, paper piercing tool and mat pack, silver brads.

Elite Challenges Forest friends ...

Another month has dawned and the latest challenges are up on the Elite Challenges stamp site.
As always there are three challenges: A Colour challenge, A stampset challenge and a Sketch challenge.
The colours to use are: pink passion, kiwi kiss and basic black.
The stampset is Forest friends.
The sketch is from the mini Spring catalogue on page 21.
Because I love to complicate things, or simplify (depends which way you look at it) I mixed the three challenges up to create one card. The little dear is embossed in silver. And mounted on two coloured ovals.
I don't know if the photograph shows it but the black cardstock is embossed with clear embossing powder. Using the Friendly words wheel . . .
The Pink Passion layer of cardstock is simply stamped with the same wheel in versamark ink for a watermark effect. I have also silver embossed the words from the wheel and cut them out as a sentiment.
A word wheel is a very versatile tool: used as borders, backgrounds, scrapbook edging, word sentiments and feature strips on cards as above.Materials I have used:
Stampset: Forest friends , Friendly Words wheel.
Cardstock: Passionate pink, kiwi kiss, basic black and whisper white
Ink: versamark
Other: Kiwi kiss striped ribbon, wide oval punch, Clear and Silver embossing powders.

Forest friends happy birthday

Is this one a little more feminine? Yes it is - It has pink on it...
This idea has been in my mind since I bought this stampset, using the cutter kit to create curved hills to plant my tree on and the animals into the scene. Very simple treatment.
I think all it needs is ribbon...
I am loving little bambi and Thumper. Children's book characters make me smile... I am thinking now I will have to make a scrap book page for some baby photos... or a page on reading our favourite story books before bed.
Not to mention wise owl in her tree. She is stamped in bravo burgundy. At the moment I am scrapbooking bush walking photos - might get an owl in a tree or a rabbit on a rock.
Next I am off to make some matching wrapping paper to create a coordinated gift. I am hoping little miss L likes her card and gift.Materials:
Stampsets: Forest friends, Happy Everything.
cardstock: kiwi kiss, whisper white.
Ink: kiwi kiss, close to cocoa, pink pirouette, regal rose, Bravo Burgundy.
Tools: Cutter kit. Snail adhesive.

Forest friend birthday celebration

I wasn't sure how to use this set at first ... yet, it is so sweet: it is now my new baby and children's birthday set. I think the tree could be used in a number of ways without the animal friends, too. I like this layout because it is so simple. Kiwi kiss goes beautifully with chocolate chip and kraft in my opinion. The tree is inked in kiwi kiss, then with a marker I coloured the rubber in close to cocoa. After I stamped the tree I used the marker again to blend in the branchesfor a more tree bark effect. Then swiped the kiwi kiss ink pad around the edges of the cardstock, more at the base to simulate grassy hills behind the tree.
The "bambi" is cut out and raised above the other layers. The birthday Celebrations sentiment is cut out with the new scalloped oval punch and adhered with dimensionals.

Materials:
Stampsets: Forest friends, upsy daisy (sentiment)
Ink: Kiwi kiss, chocolate chip
Marker: close to cocoa
Cardstock: Chocoate chip, kiwi kiss, whisper white.
Other: kraft tafettaRibbo, Scallop Oval punch, Dimensionals.

Shadow box - ing... with my new Forest Friends

I have always liked the way Shadow boxes let you play with the three dimensional space within a box frame, displaying a little piece of memory and imagination that can be hung on the wall ... And a 3D card like this one is a shadow box in miniature. The idea for this one came after making the Always bird card in an earlier post. Though the card is 3D, it can still fold flat to post in an envelope. I enjoyed making this simple little scene with my forest friends stamps. You can see how I have simply stamped and cut out the tree and animals in white cardstock and arranged them on the front of the card.
When I was happy with the arrangement I took a second piece of card (10.5cm x 12.5cm) and scored both the ends at 0.5cm and 1.5cm to make the fold over bits that make the frame.
Next I decided how I wanted the cut outs to frame the animals and used circle punches to cut out the top layer. Doesn't this little bunny look cute ( to me he resembles Thumper from Bambi fame)? The animals are raised with dimensional adhesive to give them more shadow and I used some crystal effects on their tails and eyes before sprinkling some Dazzling diamond glitter over the top for sparkle.

Sticky strip is used to hold the frame in place on the front of the card. A few embellishments later: like ribbon, Best wishes on a scallop oval punch and faux stitching with my white gel pen and we have the completed card.Materials:

  • Stampsets - Forest friends, All ovals.
  • Cardstock: Close to cocoa, kiwi kiss and whisper white.
  • Ink: close to cocoa, Really rust, kiwi kiss
  • Markers: almost artichoke, really rust, close to cocoa.
  • Kiwi Kiss and vanilla ribbon, Large oval and scallop oval punches, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" circle punches, Word window punch, corner rounder, White gel pen, Sticky strip, dimensionals, crystal effects, Dazzling diamonds, Half Pearl.
