A Christmas Banner

This was so fun to make and I have completed it well in time for Christmas. I am secretly proud of myself for getting this done and how good it looks.
I did have some help!
Jess saw me sponging and using the masks and thought she could help with the banner making.
The Build a banner kit comes with the canvas pennants and 4 plastic templates that you can use to sponge spritz or spray to create gorgeous patterned backgrounds.
We found it easiest to sponge daub the Coastal cabana and Bermuda Bay ink. The letters are really quick and easy to sponge as they come in a separate alphabet set, so we inked the letters with Island Indigo.
And lastly, I made 4 pretty Rosettes to decorate the banner further using the banner accessory kit. How gorgeous do these look?

Christmas star

Today's card is a Copy and share (CASE) from Rita's creations. I have turned Rita's layout 180 degrees and used Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse and Bermuda bay.
http://ritascreations.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/stampin-up-christmas-star.htm

Sometimes I make a card from memory and on this occasion I have searched Pinterest
until I found the original idea that Rita posted.
I just loved her colours and the two Christmas stars.
As was pointed out to me today you could do these in many different colour combinations.
Not to mention boys cards at any time of year or as star fish for seaside themed cards.

The Christmas star is a single stamp and sells for $16.95. It is a large background stamp
so would be great for scrapbooking and making Christmas tree decorations.
Note ~ These stamps are packaged in cellophane bags, they do not come in boxes
So if you'd like a clear box check out the DVD storage cases in the annual catalogue.

New Flip - flop thinlits card

Just warning this is a new thin lit die for the Big Shot machine and I am finding it a wee bit addictive discovering new things to do with it.
To start with I have chosen a stampset that I love and have tried a few different materials to place on the front label die. Of course glimmer paper cuts a stunning label on the front with Christmas greetings slapped across it.
And gold foil run through a second time in the big shot with an embossing folder for texture. With the Noel bird on a punched oval.
Then I tried silver foil paper with the mosaic embossing folder ...
Ok, so then it opens up to reveal the inside...
And the label flips over to reveal ... A sentiment panel !
Flip it closed, to see the front panel...
Open it, close it, flip, flop,
I could do this all day ... Isn't that a lovely sentiment?
Wishing you the warmth and wonder of the season.
I might try another colour combo you think?

File folder cards

I made this card using the Envelope punch tool!
There is a youtube video by Patty that shows you how to make a file folder card.

I made this one for a friend's birthday this week. Such a cool idea for the organised woman.
She can file her birthday card away under Epic Day DSP!!!

This second card is made with the Modern Medley patterned paper.

Decorated with the Strawberry Slush stretch ribbon and Everything Eleanor stamps.

A very quick card to make using vanilla cardstock, DSP, my Stampin' up trimmer and the Envelope punch Tool.

Rainbow baby prints

Baby Foot prints. Aren't they cute?
A few people have been asking me to make baby cards lately ... It must be Spring!
Either to congratulate a new mum, grand parent or for a baby shower. These words are just perfect. Cherish the moments, because wow do they grow  up fast.
These little foot prints are about as small as feet come and because often we don't know what gender they will be until the big day why not colour them with a rainbow of marker colours?

Card recipe:
Stamp sets - Baby Prints, Dictionary background.
Inks - Burmuda Bay, Coastal cabana
Stampin' write Markers - Burmuda bay, Pool party, Wisteria wonder, strawberry slush, calypso coral,
An incredibly simple layout using the 2 1/2" Circle punch and some dimensionals.
So I made 3 cards ... Might have to make some more they sold well at the fete on Sunday.
Email me if you'd like to have some on hand or we can make a batch of these together. nerida_carter@hotmail.com

Brown sugar, washi tape and mosaic, label love!

Christmas is only months away. If I keep saying that I will eventually go out of denial and start preparing  ahead of time. Like that's going to happen ...
This card features the amazing washi tape in Christmas designs.
I love this idea of throwing on some tape and layering some punched out shapes over them to make decorations.
Yep had to add some bling! As you do with a string of Rhinestone jewels.

Six sided Hexagon wreath

We had our Friday fortnight card making class this week.
Here's what we made. I have been focussing on clean and simple styles for Christmas cards using sets that make it easy to replicate in large numbers.
The colours are cherry cobbler and Gumball green on whisper white cardstock.
We used the "Six sided sampler" stamp set and Seasonal greetings.
The Ribbon is cherry cobbler seam binding held on with a glue dot ... Best adhesive for ribbon, fabric, buttons, or metal embellishments.
This is the second card we made. Santa is stamped with the "Tag it" stamp set and die cut with the  "chalk talk" framelit die.
We punched out Real Red mosaic shapes, layering over the  Modern Mosaic embossing folder.
Wonder how I made those splatters?
Easy, the background stamping is from "Gorgeous grunge"
We are making two more cards next Friday week, 2nd November.

Look what we made on Friday!

We made cards again last Friday, and added another two cards to our Christmas card stash.
We used Cherry cobbler cardstock and ink and paper from the Season of style paper stack.
Making these flags is super easy with the hexagon punch to get those perfect angled cuts.
Then we used the hostess stampset "Warmth and Wonder" to stamp the Noel bird and punched it out with the large oval punch. I love a stamp that has a matching punch!
These cards are 15 cm x 15 cm (6"x6"), and embossed with the Big shot embossing folder for some delicious texture and tied with piece of baker's twine in a bow.
Friday coffee, cake and cards is on again this week friday 18th October, @10.15am.
Give me a call if you are planning on joining us (Nerida 0468 877 125)
We will be making  two Christmas cards and I can show you how to make square envelopes for your extra large format cards.

School holiday Guest stamper

During the School holidays and I get to share my creative table with my ten year old.
And I have to say she has done a fabulous job designing her own cards.
Colours chosen, cards designed and stamped all herself.
My favourite is her boys birthday card - Jess has stamped the wave action in Midnight Muse and the anchor in coastal cabana with a touch of More Mustard on the ship.
On her second card she has stamped some pretty Strawberry Slush and Pool Party butterflies with masked sponging of a few pansies.
And then she stamped the inside and envelope with butterflies too.
