Stampin' up Launch party

What a busy week it's been?
The new 2016-17 Stampin' Up! Catalogue is now live and we have celebrated the release of some gorgeous new products.
There are so many great new stamps, inks and tools - it was hard to know where to start.
I am absolutely loving these New patterned papers called Affectionately Yours. There's a whole suite of products in this theme - a stamp set, copper embossing powder, copper foiled designer series paper, copper dotted washi tape and Floral affections textured embossing folders.
Everyone who came to the catalogue launch received a covered notebook featuring the affectionately yours papers and ruched ribbon.
We made three projects. A post-it note holder and two cards...
... show casing a new technique or two.
We tried some watercolour stamping with blocks and markers, a little bit of masking and lots of stamping!
We laughed as we tried to remember the latest in colour names...
Pickaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugar Plum, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy.
How will you remember those?
And there's a new card making kit with everything you need to make 20 cards including the ink, the stamp set, the clear block, adhesive and envelopes.
"Oh Happy Day!" Card kit is $61 which means when you've made all the cards you still have the stamps, ink and block, plus left overs to make some more of your own. I am taking mine with me when I go on holiday so I can make a card where ever I go... Even if it's just over to a friend's place for the morning :)
So we are all set with our new caty, our post it notes and inspiration to start creating.
Here's a pick of the lovely ladies who celebrated and created with me on Tuesday.
If you're wanting to join us to make cards, we get together on the first Tuesday of the month in Gosford NSW. And we're planning a Wednesday catch up in a fortnight's time, 22nd June.
You can order from the new caty through the online shop at http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/CategoryPage.aspx?categoryid=31000
Just make certain you select Nerida from NSW as your demonstrator, and use the
hostess code: 2XMJP2ZK
Please remember the code so that I can share all the hostess gifts we earn with everyone who orders.
Or email your order to nerida_carter@hotmail.com
Enjoy!

Birthday Blossoms

It's Stamping Technique Friday... Featuring the stampset "Birthday Blossoms" and the Fine Tip Glue Pen!
This technique is slowly spreading over blog land and the paper craft forums I visit. As far as I can tell it started with a talented lady named Ruth Trice at artfulstampin.co.uk
This is Fine tip masking and this is how it works:
Firstly stamp your line image in Basic black archival ink on your cardstock.
Let the ink dry, this is a slightly slower drying ink than water based ink.
Apply Fine tip glue to the petal areas you want to "mask".
Fine tip glue is a clear glue that dries hard and will resist any coloured ink. A bit like clear embossing powder but it doesn't need heating just a bit of time to dry.
Set aside your "masked" flowers for an hour or maybe less. Go have a cup of tea perhaps, or a brief nap?
When the glue is dry you can lightly sponge ink over and around the flower image.
The glue resists the water based ink and because it's clear it shows the cardstock underneath.
Stamp a sentiment, attach a punched flower and glue it to the card front.
A very simple technique with effective results!
Card recipe:
Stamp set - Birthday Blossoms
Ink - Basic black ink, Sweet Sugarplum
Cardstock- Crumb Cake cardstock
Tools - Blossom punch, Fine tip glue pen, sponge dauber.
