Convention 2014

This is where I have been for five days ... Melbourne Convention centre with Stampin' Up! to celebrate: Inspire, Create, Share 2014.
We arrived on Wednesday morning to beautiful sunny skies and after lunch we found our apartment that we would share for five days.
And except for another mix up with the towels and the TV, we just enjoyed staring at the fabulous view from our balcony.
We looked out over the Convention centre which was just across the intersection and the Crown casino.
First day of Convention was Thursday and the beautiful Shelli Gardner CEO welcomed us to Melbourne.
I just love trams, especially free tourist trams, because you don't have to have the right money and you can just get off when you want to. This driver was so kind to wait til I'd taken a photo then waived before he drove off.
Ofcourse, we were spoilt with gifts and new catalogue products to bring home at every general session. Ther were so many all attendee give aways, even more than last year.
The sessions were organised in a more relaxed way and the Make and take sessions were quicker and simpler to complete.
Did I mention the gorgeous Convention bag? It is large enough for a small tablet or ipad to fit in and it may become my new handbag for a couple of months its so handy.
More tomorrow...

Floral frames collection in wisteria wonder.

I am re-discovering the many uses of the Floral Frames Collection.
These are five layering Framelit dies (page 187 for those who like a catalogue reference, I know who you are).
We made one of these at my Friday card making class.
The "Blooming with Kindness" flower fits perfectly into the 3rd smallest framelit flower.
We used a little technique of adding markers to rubber to get a variegated colour in wisteria wonder and eggplant. I like the depth it adds to an image. No two flowers will ever be coloured the same.
To finish we embossed some texture on the second largest of the framelit dies, stamped some background leaves and added a punched Itty bitty butterfly with rhinestone bling.
You will need
Blooming with kindness (p.65 $31.95 clear)
Papaya Collage (p.62 $44.95 clear)
Whisper white, Wisteria Wonder and crumb cake cardstock
Wisteria wonder, elegant eggplant and Versamark ink pads.
Pewter embossing powder, embossing buddy, heat tool.
Textured embossing folders, Floral Framelits and the big shot machine.
Enjoy!

Pinterest Sunday

I have been searching Pinterest for Rainbow inspired cards. Sometimes a rainbow of colours and hearts or butterflies are just the thing to brighten someone's day.
I was inspired by this card by Krista Fenton on Pinterest.
I love the idea of a gorgeous grunge rainbow and instead of hearts, for these ones I used the itty bitty butterfly.
I am yet to choose a sentiment, think I will add a different one to each as they will be good for thank you, happy birthday or congratulations cards.
Here is one I made for a friend's mum. I hope it cheers them up.
And a thinking of you ... In Daffodil delight, Tangerine tango, Melon mambo, Perfect plum, Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay.
Enjoy!

Elegant Wisteria card class

On Friday we made two cards using my favourite stampin up colours.
There are three purples that i think blend well together.
We stamped four inch squares using the Papaya Collage stampset. Rich Razzleberry berry and Elegant eggplant ink work in a dynamic kind of purple ness. One is red purple the other is blue purple.
We mounted the squares onto a larger square of Island Indigo, on top of an embossed layer of Wisteria Wonder cardstock.
The edges of which are heat embossed with not silver but pewter embossing powder.
I am loving the 15 different embossing powder colours (they're on page 167 of the main catalogue $8.50 goes a long way, right next to the heat tool now with two heat settings.)
We did some more embossing with the big shot machine, using the Beautifully baroque embossing folder!
Other cards we made were in the same colours on a crumb cake background.

Photo polymer is here! What's that?

We're excited to announce that  the 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue will have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps.

We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it! Our top-quality photopolymer stamps stick extremely well on our acrylic blocks, are durable, and the transparent nature of these sets makes it easier to line up your images. This is a feature that is particularly helpful with alphabets, borders, and backgrounds! Photopolymer is clearly a great choice.

Can you wait until the catalogue comes out to try this great new product? Of course not!
So, beginning 1 May, we are introducing two exclusive photopolymer stamp sets:
