Faux Silk thank you

I have been spending my days closed up inside to avoid the 38-42 degree heat. My dining room has been about 34 degrees for a couple of days now. So I bundled up my crafting supplies and carried them to the cool downstairs.

Here is one of the first of my experiments.

The Faux silk technique.

I'd never done this before and got the inspiration from an article in Stampin' Up's monthly magazine that they send out to all demonstrators. Just one of the services that you get for Free when you join up with this generous company.

The technique is a little cheaper than purchasing real silk and printing on it...

Faux silk in Four Easy steps:

1.  Stamp your image onto whisper white cardstock.

 (I've used the Just Believe flowers inked up with my old olive ink pad, then I removed some ink with a blender pen from the rubber that would be Rose red. Then, used my Rose red marker to colour the rubber before stamping it).

2.  Next you cut a piece of white tissue paper, crumple it, and flatten it out again.

3.  Wipe a thin layer of adhesive all over the white cardstock, making sure you do the edges and corners properly. My first card I used multipurpose glue and the second time I used anywhere glue stick (better).

4.  Place the tissue down on top of the white cardstock and trim off any excess.

It is so easy to create this faux silk look . What I love about stamping is there ares so many techniques that are so simple and have fantastic results!

The double border on this card is made with the pinking hearts punch (new in the current summer mini).

It looks really great when done with the Eyelet border punch, too.

Stampset: Just believe

Ink: Rose Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin pie.

Marker: rose red and blender pen (to wipe off the olive ink)

Cardstock: Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, whisper white

Accessories: Pinking hearts punch, Bold Brights button, tissue paper.

A CASE of Teneale Williams - The "Secret Slider Card"

Tenealle Williams presented a Workshop WOW card at Regional training.
I love cards that DO something! And this one is very clever ...
The front has a punched out shape so that you can see an image through the window and when you open it a completely different image is in the window!

 My card uses Concord Crush and Marina Mist cardstock and inks. From the front of the card you can see the circle flower from "Just Believe" through the scallop circle.

 The card is designed that when you open it, the words appear in the window from a secret sliding panel in the back... its so clever!

 The card is made with only 3 layers (true).

 Don't you love that Marina Mist satin ribbon? I have recently found a ribbon tying tutorial using a piece of plastic template that gives you a neat bow like this one every time.
Teneale showed us up on stage a way to tie one 'round your fingers (a magic trick no less).

The gift card purse...

 Every girl loves her handbag ...  or a pretty purse for a special occasion?

Well even if you're not into handbags... this one contains a gift card holder and that's a necessity for Christmas wishes.  

Here is the first one I made out of the stylish "Love Letter" Designer Series patterned paper.

It is simply, some folded patterned paper and a Top note die cut, with ribbon.

My Big shot machine is  amazing for cutting out 4 or 5 of these at once, then I turn it around and run them through again with the "Elegant Lines" Embossing folder for the swirly texture.

 Here is the first purse opened up. There is a place for a gift card on the inside and a panel for writing.

I have stamped the panel inside with the flowers from the Just Believe stampset.

This is one set I am enjoying as it has both words, frames, flowers and I haven't used it nearly enough yet.

On the outside I have punched the oval scallop and the large oval punch in the Love letter patterned paper.

Then stamped "just for you" from the Just Believe stampset.

 It seals with a small dab of Dotto adhesive.

Which is a re-positional or non permanent glue and you can rub it off with your finger if you want to remove it later.

Just Believe Post it note holder

What's a simple useful gift for a young girl?

They love to write notes and draw pictures in note pads and stick them on the fridge, the furniture, their clothing, handy for writing notes while mum is on the phone ... so I picked up this little note holder and pen and wrapped it in some pink and orange paper.

I Glued it back together with double sided tape and some crystal effects for the tricky bits and decorated the front. On the front I have stamped the images with a new stampset from the Idea Book.
"Just Believe" So appropriate for girls who love fairies and magic?
Because fairies have to be believed in to to be seen.
 Like the toothfairy - if you don't believe in the tooth fairy you don't get any money left under your pillow...

I've put a layer of Crystal effects glue over the top of the circle (I just applied it using the nozzle and carefully spread it over the cardstock). It dries hard in less than an hour, so it needs to be the last thing you do.
Then I tied a piece of Pumpkin pie Satin ribbon around the base.
Jessica loved her note pad and pen. The first thing she wrote was a thank you note!
